JAKARTA HISTORY
Initiate its history, the glory days of the Hindu kingdom Pajajaran,
Jakarta as a small port town called Sunda Kelapa.
They came from Malacca in 1522 as a messenger from the Governor of
Malacca. After successfully perform a treaty with the ruler of Sunda
Kelapa, that they are allowed to establish a fort near the mouth of the
river Ciliwung, the envoys returned to Malacca.
Year 1957 Portuguese people are back with a small fleet without knowing
in advance that Sunda Kelapa had fallen into the hands Fatahillah. Then
there was fighting around the bay Jakarta which eventually won by
Fatahillah. Top kemenanganya joy, Fatahillah give a new name for the
Sunda Kelapa to Jayakarta, meaning "Perfect Victory". The incident
occurred on June 22, 1527, which then serve as the anniversary of
Jakarta.
